Net Salary Calculator: Portugal
How much do you actually take home? This calculator starts from your gross salary and removes the two mandatory charges every Portuguese employee pays (Social Security (11%) and IRS income tax) to estimate your net salary, monthly and yearly. Choose 12 or 14 payments (with the subsídios) and see, step by step, how the figure that reaches your account is reached.
Open calculator →Social Security Contributions Calculator (TSU)
The Taxa Social Única (TSU) is the mandatory Social Security contribution on a salary in Portugal. In the general regime it splits into two parts: 11% deducted from the employee and 23.75% paid by the employer, for a combined 34.75% of the gross salary. Enter the gross salary to see each part, the total handed to Social Security and the real cost of the worker to the employer.
Open calculator →IRS Jovem Calculator: Portugal’s Young-Worker Tax Relief
IRS Jovem exempts part of the income of young people starting their careers from income tax. The percentage depends on the year of the benefit, and there is an annual cap. Enter your annual work income and the year you are in to see how much is exempt from IRS and how much is still taxed.
Open calculator →Recibos Verdes Calculator: Portugal Self-Employed Tax
If you work on recibos verdes (self-employed invoices) in Portugal, two charges apply to what you bill: Social Security and IRS. Enter your annual income from services and see an estimate of your Social Security contribution, your IRS under the simplified regime, and the income you actually keep.
Open calculator →Ato Isolado Calculator (One-Off Invoice)
Issuing a one-off invoice (ato isolado) without opening activity? You always charge VAT, and the value feeds your IRS under the simplified regime. Enter the value of the service or goods, choose the income type and the VAT rate, and this calculator estimates the VAT to remit to the State, the IRS taxable income, the withholding (when it applies) and what you keep.
Open calculator →Abono de Família Calculator 2026: Portugal Child Benefit

Open calculator →Overtime Pay Calculator 2026: Portugal (Horas Extra)
Overtime (trabalho suplementar) is paid above your normal hourly rate: +25% for the first hour and +37.5% for the following hours on a working day; +50% on a weekly rest day or public holiday. Open calculator →Severance Pay Calculator 2026: Portugal (Indemnização)
When you are dismissed through no fault of your own on an open-ended contract, collective dismissal, abolition of your post or unsuitability, you are entitled to compensation. If you lose your job through no fault of your own, you may be entitled to the unemployment benefit (subsídio de desemprego) from Social Security. Enter your gross monthly salary, your age and the months of contributions to estimate how much and for how long you can receive in 2026.
Open calculator →Sick Leave Allowance Calculator 2026: Portugal
When you are on sick leave (baixa médica), Social Security pays the sick-leave benefit (subsídio de doença) to replace part of your salary. The amount is a percentage of your reference remuneration (your daily pay) that rises with the length of the leave: 55% up to 30 days, 60% from 31 to 90, 70% from 91 to 365 and 75% beyond that. The first 3 days are unpaid, except for hospitalisation or surgery. Enter your monthly salary and the days of leave to estimate what you receive in 2026.

These calculators help you estimate your net salary and other everyday work figures from the official rates and tables. They are educational estimates. They do not replace your payslip or professional advice. Each calculator shows the formula it uses, cites its sources and links to the article that goes deeper.
