About Morgan Stanley (MS)

Morgan Stanley is one of the large US investment banks, alongside Goldman Sachs. It has two engines: investment banking and market trading on one side, and wealth and asset management on the other. In recent years it has greatly strengthened the wealth-management side (it bought the broker E*TRADE), which provides steadier, more recurring revenue than trading.

It trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker MS and is part of the S&P 500 and Dow Jones indices. It is a dividend stock. The bet on wealth management makes its results somewhat less volatile than those of a pure investment bank, but they remain tied to the health of markets and the economy.
