About General Dynamics (GD)
General Dynamics is one of the largest defence companies in the world, organised into four areas: aerospace, which makes Gulfstream business jets; marine systems, which build nuclear submarines for the US Navy (Virginia and Columbia classes); combat systems, which make the Abrams tank and the Stryker armoured vehicle; and an information-technology and services arm (GDIT).
It trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker GD and is part of the S&P 500. It is a dividend stock. Unlike a pure defence company, it has a significant civil-aviation component through the Gulfstream jets, so the business depends both on US and allied military budgets and on demand for private jets from companies and the wealthy.
