About Lockheed Martin (LMT)
Lockheed Martin is the world's largest defence company. Its best-known product is the F-35 fighter jet, but it also makes missiles, air-defence systems, helicopters (Sikorsky) and space technology. The overwhelming majority of revenue comes from contracts with the United States government, mainly the Department of Defense, and with allied governments.
It trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker LMT and is part of the S&P 500. It is a dividend stock. Because it depends almost entirely on public defence budgets, the business is relatively stable and predictable, but it is tied to US fiscal policy and geopolitical tensions — it tends to rise in periods of higher military spending.
