About RTX / Raytheon (RTX)

RTX Corporation was formed in 2020 from the merger of Raytheon and United Technologies and took its current name in 2023 (it was called Raytheon Technologies in between). It is organised into three businesses: Collins Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney, which make systems and engines for civil and military aviation, and Raytheon itself, which makes missiles and air-defence systems such as the Patriot.

It trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker RTX and is part of the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones. It is a dividend stock. Unlike a pure defence company, a large part of revenue comes from commercial aviation (engines and components), so the business depends both on military budgets and on the health of the airline sector.
