About SAP (SAP)

SAP is a German company founded in 1972 and Europe's largest software firm. It sells enterprise management systems, known as ERP, which are the IT backbone of large companies: accounting, human resources, procurement, logistics and manufacturing. A very large share of the world's biggest companies run critical processes on SAP software.

The business is being reshaped by the move from traditional licences installed on the customer's own servers to subscription cloud software, which makes revenue more predictable and recurring. The shares trade in New York under the ticker SAP as an ADR, with the primary listing in Frankfurt, and the company pays a dividend.
