About Accenture (ACN)

Accenture is one of the largest technology-consulting and professional-services firms in the world, with several hundred thousand employees. It helps large companies and governments modernise systems, move to the cloud, adopt artificial intelligence and redesign processes, and it also provides managed services and operations outsourcing. Revenue comes from service contracts, not the sale of a physical product.

It trades on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker ACN and is part of the S&P 500. It grew out of the former Andersen Consulting, took the Accenture name in 2001 and is legally based in Ireland. It is a dividend stock. Because it is a consultancy, the business depends heavily on its client companies being willing to spend on technology projects, something that tends to slow when the economy cools.
